Nordic power prices have come off during the morning session, after a firm opening on the back of soaring carbon prices.
Prices for carbon allowances for 2006 soared all the way to EUR 21.50/tonne this morning, before easing off to a last trade at 17.00 at the ICE/ECX.
According to market players, there is no new information that can explain the jumping carbon prices. “No one understands why prices rocketed this morning, but I assume that one reason is that some players have to cover their short positions.
