Market - It’s a bubble

In a thin morning market, the forward curve was marginally lifted by the Friday-effect, while the rain delivering today and during the weekend took the front down, the market expecting the system price to drop in the week to come. According to a Norwegian trader the entire market is a bubble about to crack. “A V2-03 correction of some 10-15 NOK is highly realistic,” he argued.
To the downside The last week has been back and forth, up and down, driven by fear. The trader characterized the movements as “Eeny Meeny, Miney Moe,” seeing that the market is summer-thin and trading-driven. Next week, however, things should start to happen. The Monday morning market opened down in the front and up in the forwards. An international trader argued that “someone set V2-03 high this morning,” but that players were more eager to sell, taking the contract back below 290 NOK/MWh. Weather forecasts are drier than before the weekend, but 2 TWh above normal amounts have been delivered since Friday.

The morning market was thin and bearish, correcting down a few NOK at open but strengthening a little during morning hours. “At least the market is going in the fundamentally correct direction,” a Norwegian player said. A Swedish player on the other hand believed that prices would shoot up again when the industrial holidays come to an end.
