Market - Hot!

The early afternoon market lifted with the Continent, seeing the Phelix peak fixed at heatwave price-spike 115.94 EUR/MWh (+55.54 EUR). The Nord Pool system price lifted to strong 308.67 NOK/MWh (+12.81) for Thursday, and without any significantly wetter forecasts, prices continued up during the afternoon session. “It’s the price we have to pay for the heat,” a trader at a Norwegian producer said.
V2-03 remained above 350 NOK/MWh for most of the afternoon, and according to the trader, tomorrow would very likely continue up. The morning market was thin but strengthened a few NOK, and players were generally in a wait and see mood. “It’s a breather after two hectic days, and prior to something hitting the market again, most likely on the upside,” a Norwegian trader argued. Another Norwegian player believed the market was waiting for wet forecasts, and that no one seemed keen on doing much before that was confirmed, or called off.
