Oil prices are softening on Friday morning after a late surge in prices on Thursday on the news that Russia plans to send a large contingent to Sunday's Opec meeting, said one analyst.
The front month contract for Brent North Sea crude oil was last seen changing hands at USD 44.64/bbl on the ICE platform, USD 0.45 below the previous close. In New York, the April WTI contract last traded down USD 0.21 at USD 46.82/bbl.
On Thursday, the front month Brent gained USD 3.69 to settle at USD 45.09/bbl, while the WTI contract closed up USD 4.70 at USD 47.03/bbl.
