Oil prices are firming on Wednesday morning amid "cautious optimism” ahead of Friday's eurozone meeting, which will seek to resolve the ongoing debt crisis, players said.
The front month contract for Brent crude North Sea oil was last seen USD 0.53 firmer at USD 111.34/bbl, while WTI on Nymex was last dealt USD 0.51 higher at USD 101.79/bbl.
"We are seeing some cautious optimism as people are looking for a positive outcome on Friday, but there is still wariness,” one trader said, anticipating lower volumes ahead
