Oil prices are edging higher on Monday, buoyed by news most EU banks had passed "stress tests” last week on their resilience to adverse economic conditions, said players.
The front month contract for Brent North Sea crude oil was last seen changing hands at USD 77.63/bbl on the ICE platform, up USD 0.18 on Friday's close.
The Brent contract closed at USD 77.45/bbl on Friday, USD 0.48 lower compared with Thursday's close, while the WTI September contract on Nymex in New York closed USD 0.32 down at USD 78.98/bbl.
