Crude oil prices were soaring yesterday following a surprise drop in US crude stockpiles. The widely expected decision by the Opec minister to lift output quotas did little to calm the market. Continental gas forwards peaked.
Crude oil prices rallied yesterday as the US Energy Information Administration announced a shock fall in the US crude stockpiles. In New York , the US light crude oil settled 57 cents higher at USD 55.57 a barrel, following an intraday range of 54.94-56.75. The Brent for July delivery gained 77 cents closing the day’s session at 54.50. In London , the high of the day was seen at 55.07.
