Commodities - Carbon hits EUR 24 mark

The carbon market continued its bullish run on Monday, reaching a six-month high of EUR 24.00/tonne. Gas and coal gained strongly while oil moved in the opposite direction.
After reaching EUR 24.00/tonne yesterday, the benchmark December 2008 carbon contract fell back to a settlement price of EUR 23.66/tonne on the ECX/ICE platform, which is still 11 cents higher than the previous days close. The contract has now put on EUR 1.40 since the last trading day of 2007.Yesterday's late downward correction was, according to Point Carbon, mainly attributed to
