Market - As expected

The Tuesday morning market was up from the Monday close as weather forecasts again are postponing the breakdown of the high pressure. What this eventually will mean is in today’s market priced several NOKs up in both the futures and forward contracts, but as usual, it’s all in the weather.
Unsurprisingly, the breakdown of the high pressure is further postponed and the market’s natural response was to take prices to a higher level this morning. The Thursday morning market strengthened from the Wednesday afternoon’s drop. Weather forecasts confirm rather dry and cool conditions for the period, which obviously is not contributing to improve the hydrological balance. NENA said this morning that it remains theoretically possible that a situation will occur up until week 18/19. It is more than theory that prices could become very high, however.

Weather forecasts confirm rather dry and cool conditions for the period, which obviously is not contributing to improve the hydrological balance. NENA said this morning that it remains theoretically possible that a situation will occur up until week 18/19. It is more than theory that prices could become very high, however.

The Monday morning market opened up as weather forecasts again are pushing the lows further into the future. The summer contract traded around 230 NOK/MWh as a consequence, V2-03 continued up to 245.25 NOK/MWh, while the nearest weeks traded around the Friday close, as it is not expected that the spot will manage to strengthen. Players characterized the current levels as “okay.”
